It may be true that using any cheats detracts some from the true experience of the game but there is still plenty of excitement and apprehension with this game even with not having to worry about running out of ammo when the mutants attack. My anti-virus software didn't have an issue with WeMod whereas it thought that the downloaded files from Cheat Engine contained a virus.
This modification is really easy to download and install and it gives you the option for Unlimited Health and Unlimited Ammo as well as a dozen other options that make the game a little easier in places.
